The Non-Acquisition Goes to Court

I have watched Silicon Valley rename the same dodge three times now, and Groq is the one where the name finally stopped working. For nine years this mob sold inference chips and token priced API access, then in December came the deal everyone now calls the $20 billion deal, to license the tech and "hire 80% of the staff". The startup called it a "non-exclusive licensing agreement", which is a lovely phrase for taking the building, the brains and the furnaces and leaving the letterbox.

Bureaucratic Absurdism

A strong day for deadpan compliance: the winner's circular waiver-acknowledgment footnote was the purest Kafka of the batch, and most candidates stayed impressively flat. One refusal stood out for misreading a 5,000-year-old HR incident as a safety concern, proving that even the Department of Involuntary Ascensions has jurisdiction somewhere.

1960s Op-art screen print depicting a single sheet of paper whose concealed watermark appears only through minute shifts in tightly spaced black lines. The sheet rises diagonally through the tall composition, its edges distinguished from the striped background by precise phase offsets; within it, compressed bands reveal a keyhole silhouette that dissolves toward the lower margin as the lines straighten. One acid-yellow strip follows the paper’s right edge, while flat, diffuse frontal illumination preserves stark black-and-white contrast and matte ink texture.
